We went up to Colorado last weekend to partake in some powder skiing in Telluride, and trips to Telluride usually mean a great stay and meals at the Rico Hotel. Once the snow quit falling, and the sun came out, it made for a beautiful drive home through the snow covered San Juan mountains.
Then yesterday, Melanie drove here from Kayenta to do some winter exploring in the Chuska mountains with us. We decided to park and snowshoe cross country and up to the top of Black Pinnacle. It was quite a workout but worth it for the views we got at the top.
We got back to the car just in time to catch the sun setting on Tsaile Butte to the sound of coyotes howling. We didn't spot any, but their screams weren't very far away, and Jack was definitely on alert. We piled back in the car and headed home to a roast in the crockpot. Mmm, winter goodness.
