I must admit that I was hesitant to start with solids already... Although he's nearly there, I always figured I would wait until at LEAST six months old, despite the recommendations to start anywhere between 4 and 6 months. He will be eating solids and feeding himself for the rest of his life. I was in no hurry to believe that he would need anything yet, besides what my body could provide for him. And lately, now that breastfeeding has regulated and is no longer painful the way it was those first couple months, it has become quite enjoyable. I was - and still am - in no hurry to give that up. But there have been recent changes in Marlin's eating and sleeping habits, and I am suddenly very hungry these days from all the milk-making. So we decided it was time. And he did very well. I would say that he was ready! As soon as I gave him a spoon, he was quite adept at getting it straight to and into his mouth. And when I fed him the cereal, I was pleasantly surprised at how much he was actually swallowing.

[I find this last picture funny because it looks like I have a giant fang!]

It is so cliché for a mama to say it, but it is so True - they Grow So Fast. He's changing by the hour and we're loving every minute of it.
