almost two years filled with studying and working, finding the balance of chores in between. living and loving the "city" life, with bike commutes to work and nights out with friends enjoying restaurants or bars. life a mere couple hours drive from my family, but thousands of miles from his, always seeking a balance to see both enough. then adventure called and off we went, piling as much as we could into and on top of our newly beloved Jeep. headed west, together, into the unknown.
one year in a tiny little half-trailer, on what seemed like a moonscape, exploring, and mountain biking, endless weekend trips, new friends and an introduction to this new culture that has become home. too fast it ended, not ready for "real life" to begin again. this new world we were living in, a different one, seemingly not the same reality we had ever known before.
three incredible months on the road. us and that jeep and a tent. to alaska, lots of places in between, and back.
back to Arizona, back to the Rez, back home to our new home where work and life and volunteering, bike rides and hikes, weekend road trips, and new friends, potlucks and evenings around a fire pit in someone's back yard quickly turned into a year and half.
now here we are, half a year and five years of marriage later in this tiny community, feeling happy together, wishing as always that our families were closer, but really starting to feel much more connected to the bigger small community of people and culture around us.
so, to celebrate this palindromic benchmark of our marriage, we're not doing much of anything! ryan has the day off, which leaves us with a glorious FOUR day weekend to relax AT HOME! we'll be taking some bike rides with friends, new and old, might even check out the rodeo in Chinle (it's about time...!); having a barBQ here in Tsaile on monday, and besides, we've got this too:
