family, friends, fun; and fourth time off to red feather

Feels like I just got back from Cleveland, and i'm off again, this time to Third Mesa in Hopi land for some straw bale building!

We had a great trip to Ohio that started out in Columbus with work and OSU friends, included a Clippers Game (where they even sold gluten-free beer!), a new baby, a visit to the old (new) office, and some stuffing of the belly at Thurman's! Then up to Cleveland. I had a great week, hanging out with Maureen, home all the way from Germany! Spent some quality time with my parents, and my sister who came to town from Chicago to hang out. There were trips exploring new and cool parts of Cleveland, such as Tremont, and the hip happening East 4th Street, where John joined us for some bowling and beverages at the Corner Alley. We also visited the West Siiiide Market, "Transportation" bridge for a photo session, Garfield Memorial, Nate's Deli, Family Sportswear, the Wade Oval Wednesdays for live music and food. Maureen and I also partook in our 10 year high school reunion. What a blast from the past! Despite the high price tag, it was a fun time, and pretty amusing to see faces that you haven't seen in ten years. It may have convinced me to finally get on facebook. maybe.

Alrighty here's some pics.

From Cleveland Trip

Now i'm off to Hopiland to help build a house for Beverly! It's my fourth year volunteering with Red Feather, and I'm really looking forward to it. It will also be exciting to stay the last two weeks, so I can help see the finished product to it's end.
Unfortunately, I recently received the news that Donnie Robledo, last year's home recipient, passed away from a very sudden and fast onset of cancer. Donnie is a great loss to the community, but he will live on in everyone's memory. I know that everyone's thoughts at this year's build will be with Leslie, his wife, and hopefully she'll find some renewal in the community coming together again to build.
