This Chevy sits prominently on one of the two main streets through Chinle and always catches my eye when I pass it. Last winter when I set up a table of my photography at the Christmas Bazaar, I had an older Navajo gentleman ask me if I had any pictures of "that old truck across from Speedy's"?

Ever since then, I'd hesitate as I drove past, nearly pulling over to snap some pictures. But decided it would be better when the towering cottonwoods had turned in fall. And besides it was easy to procrastinate a stop during which I would have to knock on the door of the nearby trailer, asking them permission. I finally stopped. During "rush hour" even, because the lighting was right. The girl that answered acted as though I was crazy for asking. "People always take pictures of it."
