jack swims!

There have been a couple of opportunities since we have had Jack that we were near a body of water for him to swim, even with his buddy Saco, super swimmer. Even a couple times when it was hot hot heat outside, and what dog wouldn't want to jump in?!

But alas, he did not like it.

(We know that he is capable of swimming, you see, because, well...we threw him in. But he beelined straight for the edge and then ran, hiding under a bush. All the treats in the world weren't getting him out from under there. Heck, I don't even think a big juicy steak would have worked.)

Just the other day, I ventured to Wheatfields Lake with Dave, Julie, Saco and Jason & Abby's dog, Tsosie, and Jack. Saco and Tsosie went right for the water of course, and Jack was quite content sniffing around, eating cow poop and fetching for the frisbee...on dry land.
That is, until he found a not-too-old bone. Somehow I managed to snatch it from him and I gently tossed it just beyond the water's edge. He fetched it, of course, not minding if his toes got wet (c'mon, it's a bone). Then I tossed it a little farther, and all of a sudden, he looked up at Saco and Tsosie prancing around, fetching for sticks, and he just ran straight out into the water, swimming after a stick that Saco was chasing! After that, he was loving it! He was bounding all around in the water, adrenaline pumping, looking here, running there, chasing everything. He was SO excited!

Yay! Our dog is a swimmer afterall! (i did not have my camera, but julie's got proof of it!)
