great music, grand falls

So, this past weekend, we went to Flagstaff with our friends, Julie and Dave to see Xavier Rudd, a crazy Australian that plays didgeridoo, guitar, drums, and sings pretty much all at the same time. It was great! Check out his performance on Jimmy Kimmel recently:

Also, you may have seen my recent post about Ryan's health ordeal, and what I meant when I said he got transferred to the Flagstaff hospital, was that he got flown there!
San Francisco Peaks in Flagstaff

It didn't turn out to be necessary, and we're really not looking forward to the bill; but there was one good thing. Ryan was well enough at the time to sit up and take advantage of the view, which resulted in him noticing quite a large waterfall along the Little Colorado River northeast of Flagstaff, on the reservation. We had not even heard about it and it is down a nondescript dirt road about 9 miles, so we were definitely interested in checking it out. On the way back from Flagstaff with Julie and Dave, they were up for the detour, so we went to see it.
Wow. Pretty impressive, right? Who knew this existed there? It's barely marked on the map (it is labeled as Grand Falls, though), and there aren't really any signs to it. But it's pretty big.
Here's Dave, Julie and Ryan hiking back to the car among the volcanic rock. Supposedly the falls were formed from a lava dam. cool.
Check out this pickup crossing the river, just a few hundred yards up from the falls.

I love the San Francisco Peaks, and I love that you all found a cool new spot from a medical copter - nice spot, Ryan!

And I like Xavier Rudd, and it is definitely clear how folks liken him to Ben Harper and the other Australian musician whose name I can never remember.
