My official due date is next Monday, October 6th, so I'm in that zone where it could happen any day now, but I'm hoping baby stays in at least a few more!
As for the house, the drywallers have been plugging away slowly but surely on the taping and mudding - there's a lot of timber frame beams and corners and details to work around in the upstairs of the house - so it's taking even longer than everyone thought!
The nice thing about that is it's given me more time to pick out paint colors, which is a decision I haven't been good about. Countless samples and deliberations later, I think I've decided on it all. And, it is time to pretty much get everything else that was still not in set in stone, picked and ordered and coordinated. Lighting, cabinet hardware, faucets, plumbing fixtures, retaining walls, etc etc etc. Though I have been considering and narrowing in on all of these things for awhile, you all know I'm a bit of a procrastinator and I have to research all my options, so the task has been expanding to fill all the time I possibly could get to deliberate. In fact, I've been driving myself crazy, and really wish I was better about making decisions like this little by little, one at a time and moving on without looking back!
But now baby's going to be here any minute and I'd rather not be thinking about all this when I'm sleep deprived and adjusting to having #2 in the house!
More details on the exterior have been getting installed, such as trim work for where the metal wainscot will go, as well as the front porch roof:
The deck overhang has been installed, and they're back at hanging the rest of the exterior siding.
Here's some of the corrugated metal wainscot in place! Looking forward to seeing the siding with its battens in place and its final color painted, as well as the dark fascia trim to make everything pop.
Besides the house and the baby, Ryan's various work ventures have been keeping him busier and been more demanding than ever, as he's on the verge of signing and buying into a new partnership agreement with colleagues, alongside his part time work and involvement elsewhere. It's exciting but certainly stressful.
We're thankful for all these blessings, just sometimes wish it wasn't all happening AT ONCE!!!
Thankfully, Marlin is doing great through it all. He was a trooper yesterday while I ran countless errands. And even though we just had a major 4 pm 3 year old "I want to watch a video and you're making me have quiet time instead since I'm over tired" meltdown; he's really been doing great, behaving well and patient at various appointments and errands I drag him on. At the doctor today, he was telling her how he's going to help with changing diapers and reading stories to the baby. It was pretty sweet and I can't wait to watch him as a big brother!
Fall along the creek at our new place:
Should probably go pack that hospital bag...whaddya think? When's baby going to be here, and is it a girl or boy?!

I'm voting for the due date itself, since that would give me a birthday buddy! As for girl/boy - I just don't even have a bit of a hunch. We'll see soon, though!
Really enjoying the photos of the house and the lovely fall colors along the creek. You have done a great job planning all this. I'm sure it is going to be wonderful. Hoping and praying that labor and delivery is smooth and quick. Sending lots of love.
