Spaghetti al fresco

Marlin really is content eating whatever he gets into his mouth. We know it could change, but we are thankful that he is not a picky eater right now, since feeding him is such a major part of the day. The first couple of months, I was much more particular about what we fed him: plain single foods, puréed or cooked well and finely chopped. I felt the need to go "by the book" as to what foods I introduced when. Now that he's got teeth to bite into things (he's even got two more coming in on either side of his middle top two!) and since he's not picky, we are starting to feed him more off our plates. In other words, whatever we are eating (some exceptions of course), he gets. And we try to make it as nutritious as possible, not just for him, but for us too: green smoothies, quinoa, collard greens even!, some of our favorite dish: ginger chicken.

Sometimes I just gotta get dinner on the table, and last night it was spaghetti! What kid doesn't love a big ol' heap of 'pasghetti to smear all over their face and in their hair?

Yesterday we went to playgroup that was all about "eating the rainbow"! Everyone got try to fruits and veggies of every color. Some of the parents were discussing how there's a bit of a misconception that if you feed your children good healthy foods, including greens and veggies, from an early age, they will be more likely to eat it later. Thankfully Marlin eats everything, but the reality is, some kids are picky even from the start. The playgroup was a great setting especially for all the kids (and the adults!) to challenge each other to try foods they think they don't like: radishes! Eggplant! Alfalfa sprouts! Bell peppers!

When he gets older, we may have to try this tactic with marlin, but in the meantime, we are going to take advantage his good eating!
