Measuring a life in weeks

Well, it's been four weeks already since I last posted and my last several posts haven't really let on to a whole lot of what's been going on in our lives for the past few months.

February has been a short yet relaxing month.
-Started with Ryan's birthday and a great weekend at home relaxing.
-Headed to Kayenta to see Melanie and Sam and meet their new beautiful baby girl, Abigail!   We had a fun adventure hiking in Mystery Valley (lesser known off-the-beaten-path area near Monument Valley).

-Then we had a visit by two of Ryan's aunts for a nice weekend in Tsaile, exploring Canyon De Chelly and hearing their wealth of family history - stories galore!

-On Feb 19th (Happy Belated Birthday Liz!!!), Ryan, Julie and some friends from Chinle participated as a relay team in the Mount Taylor Quadrathlon!  It is a 42 mile event, consisting of biking, running, cross-country skiing, and snowshoeing to the top of Mt. Taylor (near Grants, NM; one of the Navajo's four sacred mountains) and back down again.  Dave and I provided support (more cowbell!) and snacks, and it was a fun day despite the windstorm that rolled in as Ryan biked back down to the finish line.   AND, they (team name "Contingent C" -chinle/chuska...) placed 2nd in their age group for co-ed relays, awarding them each a sweet Nambe-made medal, and they got 8th overall relay!!!
-This past weekend was another relaxing weekend at home, with a snowshoe adventure close to home with Dave and Julie.  The quantity of snow was less than ideal, but it was a beautiful day and a fun hike.

-We've also been starting to plan for our spring garden!  We do have a small amount of lettuce that we've been growing through the winter in our greenhouse, but due to some extremely cold temperatures, we've had minimal success despite our electric supplementation.  The lettuce we do have growing is going to be one expensive salad!  But we're excited for spring and hope to have as much or more success than last year!

And other than the usual day to day, lately my days have been filled with reading about and talking about and thinking about this life growing in my belly!  Hard to believe but I'm nearly 19 weeks along...next week, I'll be halfway through this pregnancy.  And so far so good!  I really haven't even felt pregnant until the last couple of  weeks when I first started feeling this little fig inside of me moving around and kicking me!  And I'm just starting to grow a bit of a belly, but feeling as though it will grow exponentially starting now.

This blog is filled with lots of our weekend adventures near and far, but really our adventure is just beginning...!
