We had been wanting to celebrate the holiday for awhile, so when All Saints Day and All Souls Day was approaching we decided to go for it. We accumulated various decorations, including a few papel picado banners, a mold for chocolate skulls, and our friends even had some sugar skulls for us to borrow. We set up an altar with pictures of our deceased loved ones, candles, paper marigolds, soap, and various other "ofrendas". We had a soup with a hint of Mexican flavor, chips and salsa, of course, and we played mariachi music. This holiday is about partying after all and celebrating the dead!
Several friends joined us, and our friend, Victor, helped us close the evening with a song in Navajo to remember those that have gone before us.
Here are two of my favorite people enjoying a moment after everything quieted down:

update: I took a video of part of Victor's song. It was so dark, I had to lighten it up, so apologies for the poor quality of the video.
